Rob M asked:
im looking for a nice loud sound. I love the sound that it makes. I was looking at the HKS SSQV brand for and that seems to be what im looking for, i just wasnt expecting them to be so expensive. Also, if you have a legacy, have you done anythign to it? are you happy with the outcome?
If you are looking for more sound, I would go with an aftermarket intake rather than a BOV. It will increase the sound by quite a bit especially if you get one with a metal pipe. The factory BPV works the best and changing it can cause problems and do nothing positive. The HKS unit is famous for causing idle issues but any BOV will cause issues. Your stock BPV re-routs the vented air back into the intake and the ECU makes fueling adjustments to compensate for the extra boost of air. When you just switch to a BOV and vent that into the engine bay, the ECU does not know this and still bumps up fueling. Same thing when idling and the BOV is open it may run rough. Why not just spend the $250 or so on something beneficial like an intake or a good set of springs. Even a short shifter is something you will enjoy for longer than a little extra noise.
All your questions can be answered below. If you want noise, look at the Turbo XS RFL BOV. It is probably the loudest as RFL stands for Really F*****g Loud. Buying something for sound and not performance doesn’t make much sense to me, but to each his own…
none unless your going to tune for it. *PLEASE READ BELOW*
