which one is better ? I like the loud blow off valve sounds but I am wondering if there are some negative things would happen if I replace HKS BOV on my EVO IX 06
if the car is stock the hks will cause the car to run very rich between shifts and could make it stall. the car counts the air going going into the engine (maf sensor). this is the sensor in the intake pipe. once the air is counted the engine is counting on it being there. so if you vent it to atmosphere then the car is looking for air that is not there anymore. it will cause problems. i would recommend to stay with the stock bov it is a good bov and will hold plenty of boost. good luck. HKS does make a recirculation kit for their bovs, if you run one of these then it should do just fine.
i had a 4g63 eclipse. Put hks blow-off and it ruled. What ended up happening was that the computer got tricked out. Since the stock bov shoots the excess pressure back into the intake system, the computer wigged out when the hks put it out into the atmosphere. Thus, it caused the computer to mix more gas into the air/fuel mix. added power, sounded sweet. but it totally junked up my o2 sensors, and my sparks. Had to replace sparks every 3 months until i upgraded ignition and plugs. I’m not positive, but i think you’ll experience the same thing.
