Diverter or blow off valve?

hks blow off valve
Will asked:

I have an 1998 audi a4 turbo, which had a stock diverter valve on it. I bought an HKS SSQV blow off valve and put the recirculation vlave on it, and it makes no blow off sound..basically pointless to have it on. But my question is..if i take the recirculation valve off and have it blow off into the atmosphere will it mess up my car? Will it affect the turbo?

Yes. The DV is meant for the air to be recirculated back to the turbo. Without that circulation the car will run like crap. Even having a blow off valve will cause the car to have a screwy air/fuel mixture. But some people can pull it off. And the reason you have no sound is because youre not boosting that much. I think the K03 boost 8lbs? Try using a boost controller to free up some boost and youll get the sound you want. Check out Bailey or Stratmosphere for good BOV’s too made for our cars.

Do not put a BOV, the engine is not made for it. Go with a diverter valve. The sound makes no difference in performance, it’s just noise…
