Can you use a blow of valve without the turbocharger?

hks blow off valve
cyver9 asked:

I’m going to buy a Honda Civic 05-08. I don’t think it’s going to be v-tec, and for sure not a Si. Probably a EX. Is it possible to use a blow off valve without the turbocharger? If there is a way then how do you install it on a civic with stock parts? I was looking at the Tial 50mm, HKS SS, and Greddy type-s. Which one do you think is better?

NO, i think you should forget about having a blow off valve untill you have a turbo

The blow off valve is to release excessive pressure buildup caused by the turbo. where are you going to get the compressed air to power your sound effects?

it will serve no purpose. if there is no pressure in the intake, there is no way it can open up. turbonetics, nothing else

I’m going to tell you the exact same thing I told someone else on Yahoo Answers last week. Maybe it’ll get me a best answer twice.

If it doesn’t have a turbo charger, why would put a blow-off valve in it? The purpose of a blow-off valve is to dump excess pressure in the intake manifold to atmosphere. Without a turbocharger, an intake manifold CANNOT contain more pressure than atmosphere. There’s no excess pressure to dump.

A blow-off valve opens when the throttle closes. So if you were to add one, the engine would probably surge when you let off the throttle and opened the valve.

Not only would it do nothing to hinder performance, it could make you crash.
